How to use it
- Drop a video and play it to find the moment you want.
- Pause there and press "Use current time", then set the length.
- Pick a frame rate and width. The estimate shows how many frames will be made.
- Press "Make GIF". Longer or wider clips take a little longer to encode.
The GIF loops forever, which is what store pages and social sites expect.
FAQ
How do I keep the GIF small?
GIF size grows with width × height × frames. Shorter clips, 10 to 12 fps and a width of 320 to 480 pixels keep most GIFs under a few megabytes, which suits Steam, itch.io and social posts.
Why are colors a bit banded?
GIF stores at most 256 colors per frame. Each frame gets its own optimized palette, which works well for game footage, but smooth gradients can show bands. Pixel art usually converts perfectly.
Which video formats work?
Anything your browser can play: MP4 (H.264), WebM and usually MOV from phones. If a video will not load, convert it to MP4 first.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Frames are read from the video in your browser and encoded locally. Nothing leaves your device.
